Corporate Social Responsibility has been a buzzword for several years now, but it seems to take on so many shapes! Despite this umbrella term, which can cover everything and anything from employee engagement and voluntarism, sustainable sourcing to ethical work conditions, to philanthropy and cause marketing, there are a number of strategic partnerships that have recently been announced which really underscore the goal of CSR – responsible corporate community partners. Below are a few partnerships we loved reading about:
Girl Scouts/Visa/Dell: Who doesn’t love a samoa or a thin mint? But we know we’re not the only one who realizes they bought one box too few and really starts hankering for them when they’re not being sold! But now, not only can you purchase the cookies online, with the announcement of a recent partnership with Visa and Dell, the Girl Scouts online platform also serves as an enriching and educational hub, helping to encourage girls’ interest in tech, financial literacy, and business skills. The Body Shop/AirCarbon: We all know that plastics aren’t the best for our environment, but not many of us think about the type of plastic our health and beauty products come in. But The Body Shop is, and they recently announced a commitment to lowering the environmental effect of their product packaging. Going one step further, they are also announcing that they hope they can set a global example to change the entire industry! Read more here.
Ellen MacArthur/H&M: Ellen MacArthur is under 40, has been named a Dame in England, a Knight in France, and was the youngest individual to ever sail solo around the world, amongst a number of other honors and records. And it was during her many days alone at sea that she realized how truly finite our world’s resources are. Flash forward to today, her foundation recently announced a partnership that will promote recycling from fast fashion retailer H&M which will mimic the recycling we see industry wide in the paper industry. Deloitte/40 UK Based Charities: This partnership is more of a program (or programme if you’re in London!), but it’s still something to check out. UK Deloitte is launching a three-year partnership with 40 lucky charities that will include not only pro bono consulting services, but also fundraising support from Deloitte’s regional offices with the hopes that they’ll be able to positively influence the future of one million individuals!
