Many of you followed along this year as the #SupportingOurSector giving collaborative partnered with Social Venture Partners Fast Pitch. There were several amazing nonprofit representatives who participated in the Fast Pitch program and all deserve commendation and support for putting themselves through a rigorous training program, and of course, the actual pitch! We are happy to feature the winning nonprofits that received funding in part by the #SupportingOurSector giving collaborative. Madin Lopez on behalf of ProjectQ (@MadinLopez)
ProjectQ’s mission is to use hair as a form of social justice and create a safe space for LGBTQIA youth to find their identity. ProjectQ is a non-profit organization founded by Madin Lopez to help LGBTQIA and homeless youth combat bullying, develop self-esteem and find an identity for themselves through hair styling. ProjectQ provides free gender affirming haircuts and mentorship workshops to LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness.
Journey House supports former foster and probation youth to live fully independent, successful lives. Founded in 1983, Journey House provides emotional support and guidance, as well as financial aid to help youth with the cost of attending college and vocational schools.
InnerCity Struggle’s mission is to build a powerful and an influential movement of youth and families on the Eastside of Los Angeles to promote healthy, safe and nonviolent communities. The Eastside is comprised of the communities of Boyle Heights, unincorporated East Los Angeles, El Sereno and Lincoln Heights.

Share Necessitiesis a 501c3 nonprofit organization teaching mindfulness, yoga, and wellness to at-risk youth in South Central LA. Their mission is to “Bring Inner Peace to the Streets” through youth education programs, urban gardening, and a community center. They are dedicated to empowering individuals and families by providing the tools to build health, confidence, and transformation in one of Los Angeles’ most underserved communities.
