Tara is an experienced real estate attorney, professional gift planner and successful nonprofit fundraiser living in Washington, D.C.
As a former Director of Gift Planning and Director of Major Gifts at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Tara is skilled at building relationships with and advising key donors and their allied professionals regarding gift strategies.
Tara’s broad experience as an attorney specializing in complex real estate transactions, including real estate lending and finance, enables her to successfully structure planned gifts using a variety of liquid and illiquid assets, such as real estate, closely-held stock, securities, and cash.
With nearly a decade of legal experience representing real estate professionals, national banks and life insurance companies, Tara is able to draft complex gift documents and close planned gifts using a variety of sophisticated charitable giving vehicles, including bequests, gift annuities, charitable remainder unitrusts (CRUTs), Flip CRUTs and retained life estates.
Tara’s focus on collaboration and partnership with front-line development colleagues resulted in the successful solicitation and closing of one of the largest gifts to the UCLA College of Letters and Science in 2013.
Tara received her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, where she was a member of the Parliamentary Debate Team and won the collegiate Novice National Championship in 1999.
Tara and her husband live in Georgetown and support a number of nonprofit organizations in the community.
