I am sitting down to write this blog with an immense feeling of gratitude and inspiration–derived from my team and also the incredible group of partners gathered in the past 10 days to join Starfish Impact in our #SupportingOurSector initiative.
But let me back up a moment. Partnership, “the team” and relationships have always been incredibly important to me. Ever since playing competitive soccer starting at the age of six, through college, and then at business school and into my late 30’s, the team was the core, the raison d’etre, the inspiration for every individual and bigger than any one of us. And as captain in high school and co-captain in college, partnership with my other team leaders and our coaches, and all of our team member relationships, allowed us to perform better than any individual, achieve greater success and growth, have a ton of fun and bond like a family.
Back to the present. The Starfish team has been working harder than ever with and for our clients, and collaboratively with each other. It is one of the attributes that differentiates us from each of us consulting on our own. Although it can take effort to communicate and synchronize our work, the process, diversity in thinking and skill sets, and end result are always better than only one brain thinking on her own. Collectively, we have more to give and deliver better results.
Similarly, working side-by-side with our Starfish marketing and tech team members on #SupportingOurSector has allowed us, as a team, to create a stronger pilot initiative and launch. And, to pull it together efficiently and effectively over a short period of time. Further, our partners are what makes #SupportingOurSector truly special. Fifteen other companies have joined us–from investment, real estate, insurance, biz dev and marketing experts to health, wealth, legal, coaching and high-end construction and design leaders. Many business sectors are represented, all in common support of the social sector. We have created a giving circle model that includes the greater community and leverages the partnership’s combined talent and treasure to support the winning nonprofit. The power of this collaborative includes that we can make a greater impact by pooling our resources, and allows us to exponentially amplify the awareness we will create for the nominated nonprofits and social sector due to 16 partners marketing not only the organizations themselves but also the greater reasons to get involved in the community. And oh, by the way, we are increasing and facilitating corporate social responsibility in the community by engaging businesses in Los Angeles and beyond in partnership. It is definitely way more fun to do this with others. Join us too! The more the merrier as we spread the word, nominate, and vote.
