Continuing a tradition started last year, we invited nonprofit and philanthropic leaders to share thoughts on gratitude with us. All of us strongly believe in the power of gratitude to renew our motivations, allow us to appreciate the power of the work we do, and connect us to the many other professionals in our sector who passionately drive forward to improve our communities each and every day.
“As someone who is deeply invested in the power of community, I am grateful to be surrounded by people who are bold enough to envision a brighter future – and hopeful enough to work for it. As the challenges ahead look more daunting than ever, the creativity and vision of others drive my own commitment to serve with excellence.”

“I am grateful for the sea. The sea is the deep blue soul of our planet. The sea is the spark of divine light that gives life to us, and all species. She is the most magnificent site in all of nature. Every breath we take is connected to the ocean, and so I am grateful to be connected to the ocean. I am grateful to be fighting for her survival, alongside a tribe of passionate and dedicated individuals that understand if we save the ocean, we save ourselves.”

“I am most grateful that I view the world, not only as a glass half full, but one that is overflowing with opportunities to be creative, do better, share joy and help others. My profession has certainly added to my optimism and belief that each of us has a unique ability to make a difference. This has been the most incredible gift.”

“I am grateful to work every day with philanthropists who see how their support of our mission – educating physicians who are dedicated to practicing in our local, vastly underserved area – makes a tangible difference in the life of a young doctor, and in the future of a community.”

“In a country divided along several lines, I feel grateful for the opportunity to work with nonprofits, foundations, and companies that choose to make the world a better place. I am also thankful for my friends and family, who constantly offer advice, inspiration, and laughter.”

“This holiday season, I’m grateful for our families, volunteers and child welfare workers across the US who have embraced Kidsave’s family visit model to ensure older, forgotten orphans and foster youth are growing up in loving families. It is a privilege to meet and work with so many dedicated people who are willing to step beyond themselves to help others. I am forever grateful to be able to see the life-changing transformation for children and adults when families are created.”
